Our team from Luddeneit & Scherf completed four double shifts of rail grinding on the impressive funicular in Sierre Montana in Switzerland at the end of April/beginning of May. The view was simply fantastic! Our grinding machine was attached to a funicular railroad carriage and was able to work in tow.
Each shift was supervised by two of our dedicated operators.
A big thank you goes to our hard-working colleagues for their tireless efforts and to the employees of the funicular for their excellent cooperation!
Did you already know?
The ultra-modern funicular, which was completely renovated in 2022, connects the town of Sierre with the high plateau in the Crans-Montana vacation region.
The 4.2 km long route with a gradient of 927 meters is completed in just 13 minutes, which corresponds to a speed of 8 m/second.
This makes it the longest above-ground railroad line of its kind in Europe!
